Before You Compare Yourself With Someone Else In Your VA Journey

Before you compare yourself with someone else in your VA journey, please check a few things first. Are you both on the same level of learning experience? Are you both on the same level of work experience? Are you both putting in the same level of dedication? Because sometimes, we compare ourselves with people without knowing the background they came with. For example, you may be in the same VA class with someone learning automation. But before that person joined the class, they may have worked in a bank, an IT company, a telecoms company, or a structured organisation where they already used systems, tools, spreadsheets, emails, reports, and online processes. So while you are trying to understand the foundation, that person is only building on what they already know. You cannot compare yourself with someone like that if you are just starting out or if your previous work experience has nothing to do with what you are learning now. Also, when it is time to apply for jobs, their CV may already speak louder because of where they have worked before. Someone who has worked with a well-known company may get attention faster than someone whose experience is still being built. That does not mean you are not good. It only means your journey is different. Then check dedication. That person you are comparing yourself with may be learning beyond the class. They may be watching extra videos, reading more, practising more, improving their CV, fixing their profile, and applying more consistently. Where you are sending 2 applications, they may be sending 50. Where you are only depending on what the tutor taught, they may be using YouTube, free resources, Udemy courses, and other materials to understand the topic better. So the result may not be the same. And lastly, grace differs. That one, we cannot argue too much. But the beautiful thing is this: You can build what is within your control. You can build your foundational skills. You can build your work experience. You can build your portfolio. You can build your dedication. You can improve your CV and profile. You can apply more. You can practise more. You can pray more. So before you compare yourself with someone else, check the full picture. Do not use another person’s result to discourage yourself. Use it to ask: “What can I improve?” “What can I practise more?” “What can I build?” “What can I do differently?” Your journey may not look like theirs, but you can still grow if you stay committed.
