When I was starting out, I learned different skills before I eventually began to niche down, and many of those skills came in handy at different points.
A client may hire you for something specific, maybe automation, customer support, content support or course support. But along the way, they may realise they also need help with a document, a small edit, a spreadsheet, a follow-up task or organising something behind the scenes.
At that point, your ability to support beyond just one narrow task can make you more valuable.
So for me, general VA skills gave me a strong foundation. They helped me understand how businesses work, how clients think, and how to step in where support is needed.
